Biography
Henryk Golden (1999, Warsaw) is a composer, who focuses on the nature of objects in art (i.e. material) and how to expose them in new ways to the audience, how to humorize and more importantly how to humanize them. He works intensely with classical and jazz musicians, dancers, video artists and art scientists. He is currently working on a DMA at the University of Southern California with a DAAD scholarship. Previously he attended the one-year course at the institute of Sonology in the Hague with Richard Barrett. He completed his master studies in composition with Richard Ayres and Maya Verlaak at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He completed his Bachelor studies at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague under the tutelage of Diderik Wagenaar and Peter Adriaansz. He studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatory with Andrew Hamilton, Ed Bennett and Howard Skempton.
In 2025 his "Light and Finicky" was performed at Carnegie Hall. In 2024 his work “Sprechen Sie Musik?” was selected to be performed at MATA in NYC. Also, in 2024 he was the technical at the Creative Music Intensive at Arts, Letters and Numbers and had works performed by the Bergamot Quartet, as well as Payton MacDonald. He participated in masterclasses conducted by Salvatore Sciarrino, Johannes Maria Staud, George Lewis, Yann Robin, Jennifer Walshe, Brigitta Muntendorf, Francesco Filidei among others, as well as travelling to Los Angeles in the fall of 2022 for an exchange at USC with Ted Hearne. In the summer of 2021, he was awarded a bursary to complete the collaborative composition course at the Dartington Summer School with Christopher Fox, Juliet Fraser, Larry Goves and House of Bedlam. 2020 he was selected to partake in the Roma New Music workshop with the mdi ensemble. 2019 he participated in the young composers meeting in Apeldoorn, Netherlands and in the ISA composition workshop in Mürzzuschlag, Austria with Yann Robin and Ensemble Fractales. His works are internationally performed with recent performances in the Newman Recital Hall, Los Angeles; Wigmore Hall, London, UK by Naomi Sullivan and Luke Newby; Amare, Den Haag by the Residentie Orkest and Nicholas Collon and in the Philharmonie de Paris, France by Ensemble Multilatérale and Léo Warynski.

He also performs his own pieces through the use of voice and tuba, as well as performing in the Amsterdam Names Ensemble led by Koen Nutters. At USC, along composition, he studies tuba with Doug Tornquist and Jazz composition with Vince Mendoza. He studied tuba and jazz with Jon Sass in Vienna, Austria.

He currently is the technical director of Creative Music Intensive at Arts, Letters and Numbers.
